Important Safety Guidelines for Your ZONE RV LPG Gas System

Guidelines to Help You Safely Use and Maintain Your Caravan's LPG Gas System

Your ZONE RV is equipped with an LPG gas system that provides a convenient way to cook, heat water and power appliances. However, as mentioned earlier, LPG is a volatile fuel system and must be handled with utmost care. This knowledge base article provides important safety guidelines to help you use and maintain your caravan's LPG gas system safely.

Gas Venting

Your caravan is vented through the floor underneath your bed. These vents must remain open to prevent gas buildup inside your caravan. Never cover the vents, even during travel, as this can cause a gas buildup and lead to an explosion. If you closed the vents before traveling on dusty roads, turn off your gas bottles and do not turn them on again until you remove the covers.

Gas Alarm

Your caravan is equipped with a gas alarm system located behind the lounge gable down low. This alarm is an important safety feature to alert you to any gas leak in your van. Make sure the alarm is powered up for at least 5 minutes before you turn on your gas bottles. If the alarm goes off and you can smell gas, exit the van immediately, turn off the gas bottles, and call for help.

Gas Compliance Certificate

If any gas appliance is removed or any gas connection tampered with, you must get a new Gas Compliance Certificate to maintain your van warranty. Failure to comply with this requirement may void your warranty.

Selecting a Gas Bottle

Your caravan is fitted with a dual bottle regulator on the front. To select one of the bottles, turn the selection valve towards the bottle you want to draw from and then open that bottle. If you remove the bottles, make sure there is no naked flame within five meters of the gas bottle storage box.

Isolating an Appliance/Outlet

If you need to isolate an appliance or outlet, the locations are as follows:

  • Cooktop: Underneath the oven behind the service panel.
  • Hot Water System: Underneath Vanity & rear of the caravan.
  • External Gas Bayonet: Behind the front p/s tunnel boot locker. (only use approved appliances).

Note: If your caravan has an annex fitted, we recommend isolating the bayonet line when not in use.

Your ZONE RV LPG gas system provides a convenient way to enjoy the comforts of home while on the road. However, it is essential to follow these safety guidelines to avoid any potential hazards. Always refer to your ZONE RV owner's manual and consult a qualified gas fitter or technician for any gas-related issues.
